Calliphlox amethystina

The Amethyst Woodstar is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is the only member of the genus Calliphlox. This species inhabits the tropical forests, savannas and shrublands east of the Andes from southern Peru, most of Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana to northern Argentina.
With a size of 7.5 cm and a weight of less than 3 grams, it is one of the smallest birds in existence. It is a generalist, feeding on flower nectar and insects in flight. Because of its rarity, this species is generally little known.

Hacienda San Agustin

Alfonso introduce us his small farm in region of Tulipe. Our first Caturra and Typica products come from this place located in the heart of the Andes.
